Case Study: Chelsea Sugar Factory

Chelsea Sugar Factory is an iconic piece of New Zealand history, having been around for over 100 years. With the opening of the Chelsea Visitors Centre in October 2018, the Sugar Factory got an amazing makeover including a café featuring a colourful new playground.

Playco had the chance to use the rich history of the site and create a ‘Sugarland’ playground masterpiece. Build for ages 3-8, the site includes singing flowers, a basket swing, a climbing hut and more. We designed the colours to match the surrounding factory colours. Entirely covered in artificial grass, the site is beautiful year round overlooking the Auckland Harbour.

The cherry on top, the final product was delivered and installed within a month from approval.
